1. Exeter Community Centre Trust Chair’s Report – Jerry Glazier
Jerry reported on the year’s activities including: • Partial Write off of Social Investment Business loan and new loan with Charity Bank • Environmental grant to for LED lights and new doors • Plans to repair window sills Jerry made a request for more trustees to join the Exeter Community Centre Trust board.
2. St David’s Neighbourhood Partnership (SDNP) – Kelvin Lacy
Acting Chair, Kelvin Lacy , reported on SDNP-led activities including:
• Consolidation of St David’s research material – research conducted by local residents – now in Exeter Community Centre Trust archive on website
• Grants for planting activities around St David’s
Kelvin reported that existing SDNP committee members were prepared to stand for a further year – Penny Dodd, Stuart Crewes, Shaun Curtis, Gina Richards, Carole Forrester, Kelvin Lacy. More committee members from the local community. The focus of the SDNP committee 2026 -27 would be to invite and decide upon applications for grant aid for community activities from SDNP account.
3. Community Builder for St David’s – Zoe Hughes
Zoe reported that the Community Builders are part of Exeter Community Initiatives (ECI) and some of the community activities that had been carried out over the last year were: • EX4 Café • Wildflower sowings • Clean up of The Shrubbery • Bike Repair Pop Up • Bird Feeder making • Christmas Tree decoration • Friends of Exeter Ship Canal Walks • Walking Basketball • St Bartholomew Cemetery litter pick • Weekly ‘what’s on’ newsletter
4. St Michael and All Angels Church Community Activities – Leontina Cerno
Leontina Cerno, the Churchwarden reported on an upcoming Spring Fayre at St Michael’s, including a talk on the peregrine falcons in the church tower. Fundraising activities to reinstate CCTV on the peregrine falcons (back for another year) is ongoing. The CCTV had broken during Covid.
5. Potential Arts Projects – Stuart Crewes
Stuart encouraged residents and groups to get involved in Arts Week – a great way to showcase local community arts. He described some potential arts projects in St David’s: • Social practice arts projects in St David’s and between St David’s and other areas in Exeter outside the city centre – ‘Celebrate your Neighbourhood’ • Close the Iron Bridge for a day – to host community stalls and community activities and Bridge decoration.
6. Local Councillors support for community activities– report by Cllr Diana Moore
Diana reported that she, Tess, James (Exeter City Council) and Andrew (County Council) had been/are currently supporting a variety of community projects including: • Mary Arches development. Revised plans have been submitted by the developer. Community encouraged to comment on these. Section 106 requirements, if the development goes ahead, are for £ for local greenspaces • Tidy up and planting of land in front of Mill on Exe • Green space planting ideas at City Gate • Litter picking • Re-purposing planters under Iron Bridge • Bike shelter and bike parking under Iron Bridge • Water butts to collect rainwater – project with SW Water • Seat at the end of Dinham Road
7. Community Discussion of potential activities to be supported by St David’s Neighbourhood Partnership and City Council/County Council.
The meeting split into round table discussion groups to identify, and prioritise if possi, community projects that could be supported by SDNP and local authorities. These are appended on a separate document and will be discussed at the next meeting of SDNP.
